Choosing the right cabin can make or break your cruise experience. Whether you’re a first-time cruiser or a seasoned traveler, the decision between an inside, oceanview, or balcony cabin really depends on your travel style, budget, and what kind of experience you want to have on board.
🚪 Inside Cabin – Great for Budget Travelers
Inside cabins are the most affordable option on the ship. They don’t have windows, so they’re pitch dark at night (and even during the day). That might sound like a downside, but it can actually help you get some of the best sleep you’ve ever had!
If you’re planning to spend most of your time enjoying the ship, the shows, the pool, and excursions, then an inside cabin is a great way to save money. It’s perfect for travelers who treat the room just like a place to sleep.

❌ Not ideal for: People who get claustrophobic or love natural light
🌅 Oceanview Cabin – A Middle Ground
Oceanview cabins offer a window to the outside world. You can’t open it, but it gives you a nice view of the sea, and you’ll always know if it’s morning or night.
This option is great if you want a bit of natural light but don’t want to spend extra for a balcony. If you love looking out at the ocean but don’t necessarily need to sit outside, oceanview cabins are a solid compromise.

🚢 Balcony Cabin – The Full Cruise Experience
This is my personal favorite. There’s nothing like waking up, opening your door, and stepping outside with a cup of coffee while watching the sunrise over the ocean.
Balcony cabins are more expensive, but the private outdoor space is worth every dollar—especially on longer cruises or scenic itineraries like Alaska or the Mediterranean. If you’re celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, or simply want a more relaxing, luxurious experience, this is the way to go.

I’ve stayed in both inside and balcony cabins. When I traveled solo or was on a budget, inside cabins were perfect—I spent most of my day exploring the ship and just came back to sleep.
